The Pale Pink Poetess

Shruti Gupte: “This look was themed around Maharani Gayatri Devi, who was the third Maharani consort of Jaipur. Bringing in the royal look and feel while maintaining a level of softness best describes the theme. Different shades of pink were used to create layers of femininity in the setting. The wallpaper for example, has a structured pink paisley motif that is balanced with a comfort inducing sofa, upholstered in a soft velvety fabric, with the signature Gokul Pichwai print. The wooden furniture is made of mahogany, which comes with a certain amount of redness in it, this highlights the pink in the wall and the sofa. The deep red lamp is the boldest element and balances the heaviness coming from the wooden pieces in the space. A lot of glass elements have been included to make the whole setting visually lighter, especially the sleek French vintage side-table. While mixing prints with prints, Shruti suggests using a little bit of its colour in another element. This way, you won’t end up making it overwhelming to the eyes.”

Exoitic Indian
Shruti Gupte: “This look is a melting pot of Indian print, art, and paintings. Without these elements being directly included in the look, the essence is felt throughout. The candy striped, Jaipur Gemini wallpaper, which also happens to be Asian Paints’ wallpaper of the year, has been featured in this look. The sofa set is a French vintage style piece, upholstered in a whimsical print called Coromandel Linen. This enhances the look of the wallpaper by highlighting it’s colours and creating a contrast. A Dutch blue Indian vase on the cupboard, the Chinese Ming vase on the floor, the turquoise print on the couch and another turquoise print on the curtain all play with different shades of the colour blue. Similarly many elements have different shades of the colour pink. While these two colours create an interesting canvas, a yellow Kamalika print single seater catches your attention and breaks the monotony in the colour pallete.

Feminine Poetess
Shruti Gupte: A mix of earthy colours and elements dominate this look. The Gokul Pichwai wallpaper features a village scene adding to the raw look. A very heavy wooden sideboard is placed against the wall to keep the look grounded. In front of which is a simple striped patterned sofa set. To break the whole earthy look, Shruti has chosen fuchsia pink and blue cushions to create highlights in the space. Here too, glass elements lighten up the space. Especially since the side board is visually heavy, lighter elements make great additions on top of it. 

Layering the space with a taller side-board and placing lampshades on it makes sure that the light doesn’t interfere with the space and doesn’t fall directly on the people seated either. Layering the setting in various heights gives it a sense of dimension and scale.
