The right texture finish for your walls can be a game-changer

As a small, young firm the Mumbai-based duo likes to have a small roster of projects that they can completely concentrate on. And as LEED-certified designers a lot of sustainable practices are inbuilt in their design decisions. They prefer to works with few materials, mostly natural and lots of texture. “We love juxtaposing textures from the same family of colours, allowing for visual layering and richness,” says Maria. For them detailing is everything and experimenting with finishes is how they add to the aesthetics.

A recent project in Mumbai allowed them one such possibility. Their clients were looking for a space inspired by the Art Deco movement. They had acquired a stunning collection of art and one of the most powerful artworks came into the home after Kayzad and Maria had commenced their work. The designers began looking for a soft and warm texture feel that would make the artwork stand out in the living room. For this they chose the Asian Paints International Designer Collection and specifically the Marmorino finish and used it as a base with a high black skirting. “The artwork immediately became a very prominent element in the space,” says Maria.
