Unusual corners can make for some surprisingly pretty nooks. And the space under the staircase is our absolute favourite. Shutter it up and you have a nifty storage; add a ledge, and there’s your cosy reading nook. Take a pick from our cool ideas to refurbish that oft forgotten space.

A vintage console, some fresh flowers, large mirror and a coat rack – and you have a stylish entryway. But bear in mind, that this looks best when clutter-free, make sure that it doesn’t become a dumping ground for all your accessories.

You can also create a cosy study by enclosing it. Add a few drawers, paint the background with chalkboard paint (which can double up as your message/ to do board).
