Formal, casual or simply minimalistic, take your pick
The living room is one of the most exciting spaces when it comes to styling. Since it is a shared space, either as a family or with guests, it can be a multifunctional and eclectic area. Even though this might seem daunting at first, it is really a fun process. No matter what you choose, the Beautiful Homes’ Shop can help you make it a reality. With its versatile collection of products, there are plenty of styles to choose from. The first step is to determine the functionality of the area. Is it a formal space or a space to let go and unwind. This sets the tone of the room. Then comes choosing a style that reflects the residents in the best way. Once that is fixed, it is a matter of mixing and matching products together. Here we explore three different styles and how you can make it happen for yourself.
For a living room that hosts a lot of formal meet-ups and is used as a space to work, a classic chic style might work well. While giving it a dignified mood might seem essential, infusing a theme will add character to the setting. Here, we have chosen a traditional Indian aesthetic by using a patterned wallpaper. This is designed by fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee using beautiful Indian motifs and is called, The Jaipur Gemini. Itf brings a glamorous flavour and sets the tone. The sofa is an Augusto leatherette sofa from the House of Asian Paints, and it adds some sophistication. A neutral grey foot seat like the Brussels ottoman is a good addition to the sofa set. The Cyanna rug also has an Indian pattern and vintage red colour, making the space look its sumptuous best. The metallic floor lamp with a side table completes the set and balances the various elements in the room.
If you enjoy happy colours and patterns, this is one way to go. Go bold with a yellow sofa and then play around with colours that complement it. A dash of green and blue along with shades of orange, would make great combinations. Here, we have used the Benito sofa from The House of Asian Paints. The Sand Tales wallpaper from Nilaya has a subtle pattern and colour and so makes a soft base. Next, the coffee table has a green marble table top along with wooden finish legs. The colours add freshness to the look and go well with the rest of the space. While choosing a rug, we went for a playful geometric one with colours from across the room. This one is called Aakar by Kavi from Jaipur rugs. However since the rug doesn’t have an overwhelming design, it fits in perfectly with the rest of the setting. The Trio pendant light we chose comes in a set of three. It has three different colours and has different heights as well. This brings in a visual interest and adds playfulness.
Accessorising this area with light wooden pieces like art frames and a few soft textures will complete it and add warmth to the setting.
Sometimes we want our living room to be minimalistic. It needn’t be too much of anything. Or sometimes you just want to style the space over time. If you happen to relate to this thought, the Naples sofa in a neutral grey shade has the ability to be a versatile piece of furniture. Its soft edges make the sofa seem comfortable enough to unwind in. But the upholstery makes sure that it doesn’t deem unsuitable incase you are hosting a formal gathering. The Intense Ocean wallpaper brings in a calm background and makes people feel relaxed. The Durham centre table has a simple aesthetic and can be easily accessorised with absolutely anything. We chose a soft beige coloured rug, called Sthir with a hint of blue that relates to the one on the wallpaper. This too, doesn’t grab your attention, yet adds an interesting element. The Poised Floor lamp completes the look with its sophistication. You can accessorise this as you like. A few ideas can be fun prints on the wall or indoor plants in some corners.
