This Diwali, take inspiration from this brunch themed table setting, styled by CAARA's Ambika Seth and Alice Mirabel Helme
Diwali is a time of excess for most of us- bright lights and extravagant shopping and a lot of post-festive guilt about eating all that rich, ghee-laden food.
For Ambika Seth and Alice Mirabel Helme, founders of Delhi based food and catering company CAARA, and believers in the slow food & farm to table movement, Diwali has come to signify a time for everyone to be more healthy and mindful of the food they eat and serve to family at this festive time.
“Winter is the best time to source local produce, and we believe it’s important to be more healthy this Diwali. That’s why we encourage people to substitute refined ingredients like sugar with jaggery instead,” added the duo.
Ambika and Alice created this table setting for Beautiful Homes readers, to help them set that table just right for Diwali.
“This table setting was younger, more casual and fresh- we styled it as a sit-down supper family-style meal, where family and friends can come together and celebrate,” they explain.
They used a mix of lilies, tuberoses and wild flowers for the table setting. The crockery used is from India, that has been custom made for CAARA.
Crockery: Custom made for CAARA; Cutlery: FnS and Reed and Barton; Napkin Rings: Antique pieces sourced from Laos; Neon Green Mats: Sourced from Laos;Blue Glasses: Made by recycled glass from Burma; Table Cloth: Settings by B, New Delhi; Pink Saree Used as a table cloth- stylist’s own; Linen napkins: Sourced locally; Ikat Napkins: Williams Sonoma.
